Minutes From March 23, 2002 Meeting

-Convened 10:13 AM-

-Platform committee in Mt. Pleasant

-Credentials, arrangements, and rules and nominations in Iowa City

-Chair moved to split into committees, and then reconvene after visiting City High School for those who wish to see the site.

-Reports of committees

-Rules and Nominations-Sandy Dockendorff and Harvey Ross Co-Chairs

Rules committee will meet again next Saturday and have rules done by end of next weekend

-Credentials – DJ Arnold Chair, meeting again on April 6 at the Iowa City Public Library, Rm B, 9:00. Raised questions about which type of ballots are to be included in the packets. Sandy recommended using IDP’s numbering system for voters on ballots, and said that she is working with Sara Norris to get VAN access.

Arrangements- Carol Porch, Chair. Had the tour of the site, and determined to use just the cafeteria and not to do anything in the gym. The lunch will be a sack lunch as provided at the Johnson County convention. The committee is still working on child care/entertainment for the convention. The committee will meet next Saturday (March 30).

Chair’s Report- Reception after convention is under consideration. Recognized IDP and coordinated campaign field staff in attendance: Michael Points (new field director for the coordinated campaign), Sara Benzing, Kirsten Running-Marquordt, and Travis Lowe.

Treasurer’s Report- All transactions should be done by check only – don’t spend cash if you wish to get reimbursed. Let us also try to use as few checks as possible. The checking account will soon be moving to an interest-bearing account. Campaign finance law discussion:

-Suggestion by Norm Sterzenbach to form a different state and national PAC’s

Motion by Carol Porch to pay $80 dollars to the school, along with all other reasonable expenses (per Norm S’s friendly amendment)

Seconded by Pat Marshall.

Approved by voice vote.

Convention call discussion:

-How to arrange/print it

-Should we put ads in it?

-Discussion by Norm S, Sandy, Darren Hamilton, Pat M, and Al

-Motion by DJ A. that all candidates’ information be at his house by April 4 for inclusion into the convention packet.
